| For the convenience of members, the Nerang RSL's "Hinterland Gold" gaming lounge boasts 188 modern machines, with specially designed stools for the various types like lowboys and slant tops. The lounge is fully air conditioned providing fresh air, high ceilings with subtle lighting along with natural light and background music.
Members earn "Nerang Dollars" by playing the gaming machines, or by purchasing Keno or raffle tickets. These are used in a variety of promotions. Members may purchase items in the showcase, alcohol or Club merchandise.
"Nerang Dollars" are entered into Members' passbooks allowing them the opportunity to enter various other promotions. Nerang RSL has approximately 4 big promotions during the year and during the year gave away many thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.
The Nerang RSL holds pokie fun games every day for our patrons. These games are all changed on a regular basis. During the year we gave away hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and prizes through our pokie fun games.
As a Responsible Gaming Venue, the Nerang RSL works together with BREAK EVEN Gold Coast to provide discrete information to patrons by way of brochures, business cards, signage and telephone numbers detailing information such as confidential counselling and support services for individuals who may have problem gambling and their families. The Club has Responsible Gaming brochures placed throughout the Club provided by BREAK EVEN Gold Coast and Third Party Operators.
The Club has developed a Harm Minimisation Info Pack containing Customer Liaison Officer contact details, counselling information, self exclusion information, a deed of self exclusion, the Clubs Player Information Guide, the Club's Financial Transaction and Responsible Gambling Policies along with a responsible gambling incident report and the Club's Responsible Gambling Mission Statement. This package allows fast provision of information to patrons from several discreet locations thought the Clubhouse.
Nerang RSL promotes Responsible Gambling and Responsible Service of Alcohol. All staff have a copy of, and are fully conversant with, the Clubs Responsible Gaming Service Policy, which was adopted from the Clubs Queensland Code of Practice for Responsible Gaming.
Our commitment to these ideals has been recognised by Clubs Queensland, as in 2005 the Nerang RSL and Memorial Club won the Special Achievement Award for Responsible Gambling for the 3rd year in a row, with the Club inducted into the Clubs Queensland Hall of Fame at the 2006 Awards ceremonies.
